Want to see the world from home? Visit this site!

By Mary R Stewart

Let me tell you about a really great website I stumbled across last week. It is all about travel, animals, and the beauty that can be found in the world all around us. Even if you aren't planning an overseas adventure of your own, this site will allow you to explore strange and wonderful new lands, and get an idea of how vast our planet really is.

The Land Down Under, Australia, is an amazing and interesting place. Because it has been separated from the other continents for so many millions of years, it has developed in ways that seem almost alien to the rest of the world. But that alienness is also a great attractor, as people from all over flock there to see one of the most unique lands on Earth.

Another beautiful continent to visit is Africa. Like Australia, it is home to a wide diversity of wildlife. For instance, did you know there is a lake in western Africa, Lake Tanzania, that is one of the deepest in the world? And the fish in the lake are almost all of the same species, but have evolved or millions of years to fill nearly every ecological role the lake needs filled.

I never realized how diverse the United States was, until I started looking around on this website. Alaska with its beautiful snow cover is one extreme climate, with the opposite being the world famous Death Valley, in California, an American desert. I was stunned by how beautiful the Rocky Mountains were, and amazed by Hawaii's tropical beaches.

No matter where you go, there will be a myriad of animal life. Panda bears in China, platypus in Australia, or even the world famous (and ravenous) piranha of South America. This site is great to sit down and learn all about life in far away places, or even right in your own area. There is truly something here for everyone, no matter what their natural interests may be.

Island get-aways hold a certain romantic attraction for most of us. From Cancun to the South Pacific, this website talks about some of the most popular beaches to be found. And it's not just talk, either, because there are some truly beautiful photos to go with the articles. Take a look for yourself, and you will see what I mean.

Have you ever heard of the Palm Islands? They are the largest man-made masses in the world, and are being built near Dubai. These aren't true islands, because they can be reached from the mainland, but instead are being built to extend from the Dubai area out into the ocean. Simply put, there is nothing else on the planet that man has built which is as ambitious as these islands.

As you can see from all I've said here, this website is truly remarkable. When it comes to travel spots around the world, this site has some of everything. Every continent is represented, every climate, and all types of terrain. I highly recommend it to everyone who has an interest in the world around us. - 16955
