Dr Gold Tear Stain Remover: Canine Eye Stain Wonder.

By Debbie Mallory

Tear stain solution is easy for pedigree showdogs, but also for your average dog with Dr Gold tear stain remover.

Doctor Golds is so popular because all dogs owners like their dogs to look their best, but for showdogs it can mean the difference between winning and losing.

Vets cite several plausible explanations for over-tearfulness in dogs.

A simple bacterial infection could be behind excessive tear production. This can be followed by a yeast infection which causes dark red marks on the dog's "cheeks".

Fleas could also cause over production of tears along with hereditary aspects, allergic reaction to food, blocked tear ducts, ear infections, too great a mineral concentration in the water and more.

Changing your dog's diet may solve the issue if food is the culprit. A water test can be done just by substituting normal water for filtered water and seeing whether there is an effect.

Sometimes your dog might just have teary eyes, and you need to sort it out just at that moment.

If you are the owner of a white dog you will find this familiar territory, and Angeleyes can help.

Although it might be tempting just to reach for the soap, it's probably not wise. Human soap and dog soap are not interchangeable, plus you have to factor in a need to rinse off the soap.

You can't just use soap and water on your pet's face. Firstly some soaps may cause an allergic reaction or get in the eyes, and also you need to be within reach of a faucet to rinse off the face.

Thank heavens for Clearquest stain remover, which you can use on cats and dogs. Eyewipes should be used to gently cleanse the area around the eyes.
