Bumper Stickers: The Key to Successful Marketing

By Buck Thompson

You may notice some vehicles with bumper stickers attached. As you drive along you will sometimes almost subconsciously read the messages. If the words and designs that are printed on the bumper sticker are set out well enough it will really get your attention and leave an impression on you. Various kinds of bumper stickers are currently being used as an effective marketing instrument to help increase sales for businesses.

Bumper stickers are an effective and inexpensive way of marketing and promoting your business. They provide a flash of distraction from the ordinary. If one person likes a bumper sticker they see on a vehicle, they may get the urge to use it on their vehicle as well. Thus for one successfully made sticker positioned in the mind of a customer, there are several other readers who would also like to adopt the idea. In this respect bumper stickers are similar to word of mouth.

Political personalities take advantage of inexpensive and efficient bumper stickers in their campaigns. The simplicity and straightforward approach of bumper stickers fits well with the budget and function of many marketing campaigns. Through bumper stickers, people are able to deliver messages to a wide audience. The content of this message requires serious thought however to ensure that it is not offensive of insulting to anyone.

Bumper stickers may seem to be simply a small piece of sticker posted on vehicles; but over the course of a year a captive audience of potentially thousands of people may pull up and read that sticker. Drivers often have nothing else to do and will read the message. If your sticker is well designed, and the message is interesting enough to be noticed your sticker is likely to be an extremely effective marketing tool.

Bumper stickers can also create brand awareness for products which aren't well positioned in their market. This can be achieved in a short span of time with the right message. When designing a sticker it should be noted that humor grabs the maximum attention for a person. A message like "Few Women admit their age: Fewer men act it" is the right way to use humor. Who wouldn't want their vehicle to be eye candy for other people?

Care should be taken though when using humorous messages. The message should not contain anything offensive or use explicit language. Include humor that is off-beat. Come up with an idea that is clever and adorable. Use something that is out of the box, and that shouts to the customer "READ ME". The material you use for your sticker is also important. Vinyl clings and magnetic stickers are both popular options.

Bumper stickers will surely continue to be an effective, cheap marketing option into the future. Most businesses are in a position in which a well thought, well designed, bumper sticker with a clear message could help to increase profits. A bumper sticker campaign would also work well alongside other marketing strategies.

Bumper stickers, if done properly, have the potential to be an invaluable marketing tool for your business. So put some time and effort into your design, think long and hard about your message and in no time you and your business will reap the rewards. - 16955
