The Miele Hose - Durability, Function, and Style

By Kristina Brown

Vacuum cleaners are capable of picking up a large amount of dirt from your floors but in order for the machine to funnel that power to the floor a canister vacuum requires a hose. Since a hose plays such a crucial role in the clean ability of a vacuum cleaner, it is important for a hose to work and perform well. This is exactly why Miele, a German Company, created a vacuum cleaner with a durable, long-lasting hose.

How can a hose from Miele be better than any other hose? Miele tests and retests all components of their vacuum cleaners and the hose is no exception. A hose needs to be tough, durable and feel comfortable when in use and Miele made sure all of such elements are included in their hose. If a component of a vacuum does not pass Miele's high testing standards, it is re-examined and rethought out. The Miele hose, however, has passed all tests and has therefore been bestowed the Miele name.

A lot of vacuum cleaner hoses on the market today are prone to crushing in and being warped out of position. Many manufacturers are away that if someone was to step on their hose it would have to be replaced, yet still manufacture the same kind of hose. Miele steered away from the pack by creating a hose that will not warp if stomped on. Using German Engineering, Miele created a hose that return to its natural circular shape regardless of how many times you step on it.

Many vacuums cleaner manufacturers also create a hose with an inferior hose connection. This connection is likely to fall apart after a while and the user is forced to either purchase a new vacuum hose or get theirs repaired. Some connections are so bad, the manufacturer actually tells you not to drag the canister around because the connection might break! Miele's hose connection quality far surpasses that of almost every other brand. In fact you can hold the machine from the connection with an extra ten-pound weight at the end of it and it still will hold up just fine. This is just another example of how much thought and effort Miele puts into making a superior product.

How does the hose handle feel? The Miele hose handle is an ergonomic handle with a rubberized grip to prevent slippage. The handle is easy to maneuvers and swivels slightly. The hose handle also has a strip of metal that takes neutralizes static electricity.

Does the hose handle have any controls built-in? The Miele hose handle has a convenient powerhead on/off switch. This switch allows you to turn the powerhead off so you can go right on the bare floors after vacuuming your rugs/carpeting or vice-versa.

Can I control the suction from the handle? If you purchase the Miele Capricorn you can adjust the suction of the machine up or down right from the handle via the +/- buttons. You can adjust your suction to go from the lowest power setting to the highest power setting with ease. The power settings are as follows from lowest to highest: Drapes, Upholstery, Throw Rugs, Miele's Quiet Setting, Large Area Rugs and Wall to Wall Carpet or Bare Floors. The Miele Capricorn also allows you to turn the machine on and off from the handle.

When Miele manufactures a product they are aware that every detail matters. This is why Miele makes sure that their hose does not only works well, but feels good and lasts long. Be sure to take a look at the Miele when you are ready to purchase your next vacuum cleaner; you will be amazed. - 16955
